A commitment and some goals...

I looked back to see what my commitment to myself was last year when I started on this whole adventure, and I had a little chuckle to myself when I saw the date I did it - 10th February.

Exactly a year ago today!

Going back over it, I have mixed emotions.  I feel a tad bit disappointed in myself for not having tried harder, and for not reaching my overall goal - which was to lose 30kg in a year, but also so excited to realise how close I actually came!

Imagine the magic that will happen this year!

I had set goals for the first time ever in my whole life, and I met most of them!

So, down to business.

Commitment 2014
(the same as last year)

My commitment to myself is to lose 30kg over the next 12 months.

I will do this by following the 12WBT clean eating & exercise plans, and training.

I my fall off the wagon sometimes, but I will get up and get back on.

I will not be beaten.

I will achieve my goal, and I am committed to do the work to get me there.

Remembering this is a way of life, not something with an expiry date.

Non Weight Related Goals 2014

In the beginning I thought that for this program, the goals had to be weight related.

WRONG!

One of the things I've learnt is that the everyday achievements are just as important as seeing the numbers on the scales drop.  In fact they're probably more important, because that's how we measure our lives, our successes.

Imagine not seeing the scales move this week... or seeing them move up instead of down.  Now imagine - in that same week, trying on a pair of your favourite jeans that you haven't been able to fit into for a decade.

That to me is more worthy of a celebration that seeing the scales drop by 500g.

My main (non weight related) goal for the year is to do more Fun Runs than I did last year.  In 2013 I did my first ever Fun Run in July, then one in September and one in December.  This year I want to top that effort, so this is the list of events, that funds allowing, I will participate in this year.

Then just for the fun of it, I want to climb Burning Mountain, so that's booked in too.

Things to do...

  • Newcastle Running Festival - Sunday 6th April 2014
  • Maitland River Run - Sunday 4th May 2014
  • Newcastle Color Run - Sunday 11th May 2014
  • Hunter Valley Marathon - Sunday 20th July 2014
  • Brisbane Running Festival - Sunday 3rd August 2014
  • Singleton Tri Club Fun Run - September 2014
  • Coffs Harbour Running Festival - Sunday 7th September 2014
  • Jacaranda Fun Run - Sunday 2nd October 2014
  • World Wide Companion Walk - Friday 28th November 2014
  • Variety Santa Fun Run - December 2014

  • Climb Burning Mountain - Saturday 7th June 2014
  • Attend the next 12WBT Festival and do the group workout!

Fist pump moments to have...

  • Move the drivers seat at least one more notch forward.
  • Comfortably wear size 18.
  • Be able to sling my handbag over my shoulder.
  • Wear my sports band phone holder thingy on my upper arm.
  • Buy cute undies in the style I like.
  • To be able to buy workout gear anywhere.
